HI THERE, I’M Kimberly
A Holiday Reflection on Healing, Habits & How You’re Really Doing
The holidays have a way of amplifying everything—our joy, our stress, our loneliness, and our healing. If you’re navigating divorce, this season may feel even more complicated. You might be grieving what isn’t the same anymore, trying to hold it together for your kids, or simply trying to get through each day without shutting down.
And because emotional healing isn’t linear (and certainly not tidy), this time of year can also be an opportunity to pause, reflect, and gently ask:
“How am I coping… really?”
Introducing: The Naughty or Nice List—Divorce Edition.

The Naughty List: Unhealthy Divorce Behaviors & Coping Skills
No shame. No judgment. Just awareness. These are the habits that drain your energy and keep you stuck.
❌ Using Children as Pawns Putting kids in the middle of disputes.
❌ Excessive Negativity Focusing only on blame or resentment.
❌ Isolating Yourself Avoiding support, withdrawing, or shutting down.
❌ Substance Abuse Using alcohol, drugs, or numbing behaviors to cope.
❌ Revenge-Seeking Acting out of spite to hurt your ex emotionally, financially, or socially. ❌ Avoiding Responsibilities Ignoring financial, legal, or emotional tasks that need attention.
❌ Rushing Into a New Relationship Jumping into something new before you’ve had time to heal.
❌ Catastrophizing Assuming the worst about your future.
❌ Neglecting Your Health Overworking, under-sleeping, overeating, or abandoning your needs.
❌ Refusing to Let Go Clinging to hopes, memories, or patterns that prevent forward movement.
If you see yourself in some of these, you’re human. Divorce is overwhelming. Awareness is the first step toward change.
A Loving Reminder
Nobody is all naughty or all nice during divorce—especially during the holidays. You’re doing the best you can with what you’ve been handed.
What matters is noticing your patterns and choosing, even in the smallest ways, to move toward healing, steadiness, and self-compassion.
This season, may you give yourself:
Grace for the hard days
Credit for the brave days
Support for the lonely days
And permission to step into a version of yourself you’re proud of
